Lucy C Hayward

Lucy Hayward is a playwright focused on creating plays which are accessible for blind and visually impaired audiences without relying on audio description.

She tells the stories which look into the worlds of people who fade into the background in everyday life.  Her interpretations of modern life enable audiences to relate to characters they recognise from their own lives. She is currently testing an innovative new way of using audio and broadcasting live performances to community spaces. This will enable  people who would not normally attend live theatre to listen to live performances in a relaxed environment in their local area. She is focused on developing access from the point of creation and working with artists who can share their own experiences of theatre  and understand the importance of building access into the project they are working on. Inbuilt access heightens the experience of mainstream audiences and the company's inclusive  approach appeals to people who do not usually engage with theatre productions
